So what has Matt done on the Web? Well for starters, there is this site you are looking at here. Simple. Clean. Not over-cluttered. Easy to navigate. These are the elements that Matt feels are the cornerstone of a good web site. And this is what he can bring to your site as well. You can learn more about Matt's philosophy of web sites on his Web Design page.
Some sites that Matt has done:
Cetacean Bycatch Resource Center - The issue of cetcean bycatch is one that the general public knows little about, and one that the people researching it needed a one-stop-shop for information on. Matt took the previously existing page - which was disorganized and not consistent in its design - and helped design a whole new navigation system. In addition, Matt gave it a face-lift with a whole new look and feel that is far more professional.
WWF Photo Gallery and Video Gallery - On the about Matt page, you will see that he has worked as a web producer for World Wildlife Fund (WWF). In his time there, these were two sections that he developed completely on his own. Most of the projects he has done there are group projects, and so they are not listed here out of respect for the other people who worked on them. However, these sites are 100% Matt Finarelli originals! Anyway, these sites pull together the great videos and photos of WWF together with intelligent organization and a sharp design. With the redesign of the WWF Web site in 2004 that Matt worked on, these sites were replaced with other template-sites. However, Matt has some samples of each of these galleries on this site for you to look at.
Marine Photobank - Here's the dilemma: You have a designer, but they've never done a web site before. You have tech people who run the back-end server-side tool for your site's functionality, but they don't do design. And neither side knows how to communicate what they need to the other! That's where Matt came in. He speaks both of these "languages" and was able to help the Marine Photobank through a succesful redesign. Even though Matt didn't design this site, he did help the designer produce an easy to navigate product that Matt then coded and uploaded. Whatever is needed for a site, Matt delivers.
Dyckman & Associates - In the competive world of health care consulting and litigation support, Dyckman & Associates realized that as they were just starting out, they needed a web site that stood out from the rest of the field. They were looking for a site that was easy to navigate and not over-loaded with useless bells and whistles - like so many other sites in the industry. So they came to Matt who quickly put up a simple holder page on their domain which provided a quick run down of their services and contact information for them while they worked on the final site. The site that Matt made for them has a clean, professional look along with a sharp color pallette. Now that it is up and running, the people of D&A have received nothing but compliments on their great new site!
Bill Reef Photography - Matt has done a lot of photography sites, and this one was for the private business of an undersea photographer. Alas, although he was a great photographer, he was not good at paying his bills, and so his site is no longer online. However, the site that Matt created was clean, easy to navigate and full of beatiful photographs and collages that Matt created using the original artwork of the photographer.

World Wildlife Fund, CITES 2002 - Another WWF site that was completely designed and built by Matt, this site features daily dispatches from the field as well as a press room and photo gallery (something Matt seems to do a lot of, huh?). This style incorporated WWF's style for specialty sites, and used a color scheme that was unique to the area that ended up looking sharp and crisp next to the numerous animal photos. This page was also taken down with the WWF redesign, but you can see some screen capures of the pages below. The daily updates needed to pull off a site like this also shows Matt's attention to detail and ability to help a site grow. Which is also true of Matt's next site example as well...
SportsCurmudgeon.com - A slanted look on sports to be sure! This site is run by a private sports writer who likes to let people know the things that are going on in the sports world that you may have missed. One of Matt's most recent re-designs, the cornerstones of this site are consistent navigation and easy-to read text. The daily updates that Matt performs, as well as the arrangement of the over 500 articles in the archives, have resulted in steady increases in user sessions and page views per session on this site ever since it was created 2 and a half years ago. (Matt can also show you the original design if you are interested.)
But wait, there's more! This is not all that Matt has done, not by a long shot! Simply contact Matt today, and he would be more than happy to share some more web site designs with you, and discuss what you need to make a fantastic new site!
